July 5th Gathering in New York: CAGH-USA and CADGH-France

Following a joint meeting between the associations CAGH-USA and CADGH-France, on July 5, 2008 in New York, decisions were taken regarding the inauguration of the Socio-Cultural and Educational Development Center in Gressier. This inauguration would be remembered by two great events: the organization of a two-day medical fair to benefit the population and also a series of roundtable gatherings with regional associations. These gatherings would have the purpose to analyze the problems that challenge the real development in Gressier and to establish a grass root movement that can motivate all people of Gressier.

Medical Fair: July 18-19, 2008 - A Humanitarian Act

Within the framework of the inauguration of the Socio-Cultural and Educational Development Center (CDSCE),  the associations  CAGH-USA and CADGH-France, COLIDEG, organized July 18th and 19th, a two day medical fair event with the close collaboration of the AGIR members and other regional associations. This year, this medical fair has been very successful in terms of the number of doctors, nurses and pharmaceutical agents who responded spontaneously and favorably to this endeavor.  Different specialists such as ophthalmologist, gynecologist, dermatologist and internists were available to provide quality care to the patients.

It is important to underline the unconditional support and the solidarity that the medical fair received throughout these two days from the Reverend Father Max Lamour, the deputy of Gressier, Ronald Jean Oscar, and all the AGIR members. The multitude of the population to this fair, in the opinion of all the doctors after having diagnosed more than 300 patients during these two days, is an obvious sign that the population is in search of primary health care. The most frequent cases, is primarily of those with eye disease and secondly, of women having gynecological problems.  Dr. Theodore Crèvecœur, in agreement with his team, does not remain indifferent to this situation. He intends to continue this program by providing more frequent visits to mitigate the consequences of these endemic diseases.  He is entertaining other projects for the center which will be able to be concretized  with the financial support of all the layers of the civil society of the commune, regional organizations,  those of the Diaspora and also of the friends of Gressier.

Thank you note to the Participants of the Medical Fair

AGIR Members

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In the name of the associations COLIDEG, CAGH-USA, CADGH-FRANCE, we are pleased to express our joy and our satisfaction for the great work you have achieved during the two day medical fair event. In a spirit of mutual aid and plural solidarity, you have spent all your energy to share your experiences with our brothers and sisters of the region as well as to bring hope and comfort to a population in search of primary medical healthcare.

We want also to thank the priest of the parish of Gressier, the Reverend Jean Max Lamour, for his health-based advices, his personal engagement and his devotion to make these two days, a great success. Our thanks go to Representative Jean Ronald Oscar and the Mayor who came to encourage this initiative by their presence and their moral support. Our gratitude goes to the AGIR members who did not haggle over their effort and their enthusiasm to offer a dignified and warm welcoming to all the guests during the two days of the fair.

As for the valiant young ladies appointed to the kitchen, they deserve not only our thanks, but also all of our congratulations and admiration for their devotion and their courtesy.

We thank the three pharmaceutical agents who helped us meet our commitment to give free medicines to the patients.

We would like to stress that without your participation, your moral support, your discipline and your unconditional commitment, the medical fair would have lost all its value  and purpose. You all deserve the congratulations and the thanks of COLIDEG, CAGH-USA, CADGH-FRANCE. The people of Gressier will always be grateful to you.

Again, a tremendous thanks to you.

The Associations Joint Action: Reorganization of Colideg

During the months of July and August 2008, the associations CAGH-USA- CADGH-FRANCE organized a series of meetings with most of the regional associations, particularly COLIDEG and AGIR in order to exchange points of views on strategies to approach the problems of development of Gressier. The purpose of these gatherings was to channel the resources of all the associations for a better organization of our work force in the field as well as to increase relationships between the people of Gressier living abroad and those living in the country. As a result of these gatherings, a partnership between these associations was created. This partnership led to the formation of a steering committee that had the mission to reorganize the local association: COLIDEG.  The steering committee consists of the following members: the Reverend Father Max D. Lamour, Frantz Prinvil, Lovince Romulus, Marie Yolène Jean Baptiste, Jean Marcel Zénon, Mathieu Point Du Jour (Billy),  Wilda Firmé, Guerline Jacques, Bertrand Jacques (Bernardo), and Marjorie Ferdinand.

This committee is already at work and promises to present the flow chart within the best time frame to allow COLIDEG to re-engage with its activities. It is to be stressed that during their first meeting, certain members of this committee, pointed out that COLIDEG could provide for its primary needs without waiting for outside assistance and even before undertaking great projects with the partners. They quoted for examples, the rental of chairs, the organization of raffles, the rental of the center for occasions of all kind such as marriage, conferences, or other etc.
