COMMITTEE FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF GRESSIER-HAITI (CAGH)
P R O J E C T S
Below is a list of projects that the organization has undertaken in the past and its vision for the future.
PAST PROJECTS FROM 1991 TO 2009
1991-1992
Education is a priority for the members of CAGH. So, for the school year 1991-1992, CAGH sent school supplies for students attending the former Farm School of Gressier.
1993
CAGH had undertaken several steps for the construction of the National School of Gressier. The steps had not been materialized by the realization of our dream. But thanks to the help of a NGO and our modest contribution, a new building was erected in place of the old one. The previous school house had a leaky roof among other things, and was beyond repair. The new building has contributed to improve academic performance.
1994-1997
CAGH provided equipment to the Gressier soccer team and sponsored several soccer tournaments.
1995
CAGH began the process to improve the drinking water supply in the following areas of Gressier: Santo and Garde Gendarme.
1996
CAGH organized its first health fair. Patients were examined and received free medicine.
1997
CAGH held its second health fair with participation of local doctors and physicians from the United States.
1997
CAGH sponsored children of school age to attend school to increase enrollment in the town.
1999 and 2000
CAGH organized workshops for two consecutive years for teachers of the town of Gressier under the direction of Yvon Lamour, an educator from Boston.
2001
The SOCIO-EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT CENTER OF GRESSIER was designed and constructed.
2008
Through a partnership with local associations, AGIR and COLIDEG and the help of the agencies USAID and IOM, the National School of Gressier was rebuilt and inaugurated on October 10, 2008. A project initiated by CAGH 15 years prior, the school is the realization of one of the organization’s longest and most important goals.
2008
CAGH organized its third health fair with the help of Dr. Yves-Marie Theodore Crevecoeur and his medical team.
2009
CAGH held its fourth health fair with the participation of the medical team led by Dr. Yves-Marie Theodore Crevecoeur.
2009
World Sight Day, October 8, 2009 was observed by CAGH local partners AGIR and COLIDEG. This day of Preventive Medicine was held around the theme "The Right to Sight". Hundreds of students and educators from different schools in Gressier gathered at the parish Church of St. John the Baptist to receive advice on the ways to prevent visual impairment. This workshop was conducted by the ophthalmologist Marie Theodore Yves Crevecoeur.
